You've Changed — and That's Okay

Identity & Transition  •  Ministry Re-entry  •  Return Again Inc.

One of the most disorienting aspects of returning home after overseas ministry isn't the jet lag or the reverse culture shock — it's the quiet realization that you are not the same person who left.

You may have changed spiritually, emotionally, politically, or culturally. Your relationship with material things has shifted. Your sense of humor, your communication style, even your comfort level with personal space — all of it has been shaped by where you've been and who you've been among.

And that's not a problem to be solved. It's a sign of growth.

"Your identity is not found in what you did or where you have been — but in whose you are. That truth doesn't change when the zip code does."

The challenge is learning to integrate that growth into your life back home. Friends and family may not be able to fully relate to what you experienced. They have changed too — in their own ways — and the relationship has some catching up to do on both sides.

Our encouragement: give yourself grace. Coming home is not a setback to your calling. It is part of it. The person God shaped on the field is needed right here, right now.

At Return Again, we walk alongside returning workers as they rediscover who they are in this new (and yet familiar) season — through community, conversation, and care.

Your story isn't over. It's just turning a page.
